The Rite of Spring

Stravinsky’s legendary work (performed by the New York Philharmonic under Leonard Bernstein), spread over three dancers, was prepared as part of Poznan’s Spring Festival.
“The creator focused on spontaneous movement, on strong partnerships, on total sacrifice, on the sacrifice of the dancing body (…). It’s no longer an imitation of a ritual, it’s a real “indulgence” of movement, a bodily fatigue of non-mimetic action that, as the performance unfolds, loses all costume of the character to be left alone with itself, like a runner at the finish line.” (Jadwiga Majewska in summary of Polish Dance Platform 2012 )
